Not everyone out there may realize that Timor Leste's waters make up the southern region of the Coral Triangle!
The Coral Triangle consists of 5.7 million kilometers of ocean waters around 6 countries and has the highest level of biodiversity of any marine ecosystem on the planet! There are more than 500 species of reef-building corals, 6 of the world's 7 marine turtle species and more than 3000 species of fish. In addition to this, the coral triangle is also home to whales, dolphins, dugongs and whale sharks which feed, breed and migrate in these waters.
